How to Connect iHome Speaker

You can connect to an iHome speaker in the same way you would connect any other device to a Bluetooth speaker. With your Bluetooth device in range, press the pair button on the iHome speaker until it connects with your phone or other audio source.

I’m Donovan, and I’ve been working in the home audio space for years. I have lots of experience as a producer, musician, and engineer, but I also have spent a lot of time setting up home audio systems.

This post will show you how to connect to an iHome speaker. I’ll walk you through all the necessary steps to get your phone or other audio source quickly and easily connected to this popular Bluetooth speaker. I’ll also provide some additional related information.

Let’s get started.

Key Takeaways

  • Connecting to an iHome speaker is similar to connecting to any other Bluetooth speaker, and you just need to pair your phone or other audio source with the speaker.
  • Ensure your iHome speaker is charged up and within range of your audio source for effective pairing.
  • Hold down the pairing button on the iHome speaker for a few seconds, and it should pair with your Bluetooth device.
  • You’ll need to select the iHome speaker as a Bluetooth device on your audio source if you’ve never set it up with the speaker before.

Initial Thoughts

Even though connecting an iHome speaker to an audio source is pretty simple, I’ll still walk you through the steps of how to do this. If you have experience connecting to Bluetooth speakers, you’ll likely already know how to make this happen.

Most people connect their phones to the iHome speaker and control the audio from there. But you can also connect the speaker to a computer or tablet, and I’ll also walk you through those steps.

Your iHome speaker should come with all the instructions for connecting it to various devices. Refer to that information first if you have it, as my general instructions here might differ slightly from those you already have.

How to Connect iHome Speaker to iPhone

Most people like to connect their iPhones to their iHome speaker as the audio source and control of this Bluetooth speaker. I’ll start with these instructions because they are the most common.

Follow these instructions to connect iHome speaker to iPhone:

1. Make sure your iHome speaker and iPhone have a good charge and are within range of one another. Devices typically need to be within 30 feet of one another for pairing, but keeping them next to each other is often easier.

2. Ensure the Bluetooth is turned on on your iPhone. You can swipe down from the upper right side of your screen to access the quick controls. Tap the Bluetooth icon and make sure it’s highlighted.

3. Turn on your iHome speaker if it isn’t already powered on.

4. Press the pairing button on your iHome speaker for a few seconds. You should hear a beep when it enters pairing mode. The pairing button is the same as the pause/play button.

5. Open the Bluetooth settings on your iPhone. Tap the Settings app icon and then tap Bluetooth.

6. Select the iHome speaker from the list of available devices. It should appear as iHome and then the model number or something similar.

7. Your iPhone and iHome speaker are now connected.

How to Connect iHome Speaker to MacBook

The process for connecting an iHome speaker to a MacBook is pretty much the same as connecting it to an iPhone, but you’ll deal with MacOS instead of iOS.

Follow these steps to connect iHome speaker to a MacBook:

1. Make sure your iHome speaker and iPhone have a good charge and are within range of one another.

2. Ensure that the Bluetooth is turned on on your MacBook. You can click on the Quick Controls icon in the upper right corner of the screen or access the Bluetooth settings from the System Settings app.

3.  Turn on your iHome speaker if it isn’t already powered on.

4. Press the pairing button on your iHome speaker for a few seconds. You should hear a beep when it enters pairing mode. The pairing button is the same as the pause/play button.

5. Open the Bluetooth settings on your MacBook. You can access this through the Quick Controls icon or in the System Settings app.

6. Select the iHome speaker from the list of available devices.

7. Your iHome speaker and MacBook are now connected.

How to Connect iHome Speaker to iPad

Connecting an iHome speaker to an iPad is the exact same process as connecting it to an iPhone. Since both iPhones and iPads run on iOS, you can refer to the instructions in the section above on how to connect an iHome speaker to an iPhone.

Just make sure that your iPad is charged up and within range of the iHome speaker before attempting to pair them. This will make the process more manageable in the long run.

How to Connect iHome Speaker to WiFi

Your iHome speaker can connect to WiFi, giving you access to more controls and capabilities. To make this connection happen, you’ll need to download and install the iHome Connect app, which is available for Android and iOS devices.

Follow these steps to connect iHome speaker to WiFi:

1. Download and install the iHome Connect app onto your phone or computer.

2. Open the iHome Connect app on your device and select the desired WiFi network you want to connect to.

3. Enter the WiFi password if necessary.

4. Click Join. It might take a few minutes for the speaker to connect to WiFi, and the network status light should turn solid green once the connections are made.

5. Your iHome speaker is now connected to WiFi, and you can use it to connect to other devices. The network should be saved, and you’ll need to go through these steps again if you want to connect to a different WiFi network.

iHome Bluetooth Speaker Won’t Pair

It’s good to know a few troubleshooting tips to help you deal with the issue of your iHome Bluetooth speaker not pairing with another device. This information will help you fix the problem quickly and not get frustrated.

Making sure your device is within range of the iHome speaker is a good place to start. If you are having issues, place your phone or computer next to the speaker. If they are in different rooms or floors of the house, you’ll likely have a pairing issue.

You might also be experiencing this issue if your iHome speaker is not charged. It might not put out enough signal for effective pairing if it has a low charge. Plug your speaker in, let it charge, and then attempt to pair again.

Also, make sure that the Bluetooth is turned on on whatever device you want to use to control the iHome speaker. If you don’t have your Bluetooth on, you won’t be able to pair your phone to the speaker or any other device.

If none of these fixes work, reset your control device and speaker. You can reset the iHome speaker by holding the play/pause/pair and volume buttons simultaneously for a few seconds until you hear a loud beep.

A reset can often fix random bugs and glitches you can’t find a good explanation for. If you get to a point where you are frustrated, attempt a restart before contacting customer service or anything like that.

Can I link two pairs or four rock speakers together

      Hey Duncan,

What do you mean exactly by rock speakers? Are you using iHome speakers with a rock-like covering? Or is that a particular brand of speaker I’m not aware of? I’m not sure that you can easily pair multiple iHome speakers together through Bluetooth. But I’m pretty sure they all have aux outputs, which allows you to daisy chain them all together. This might not be the ideal setup, but it could get you sound out of all 4 speakers you are working with. You’ll just need enough ⅛-inch cable to run between all of the speakers, and then they should all work at once. If you give me some additional information, such as the exact make and model of the speakers you are using, I should be able to help more.
